Health Secretary makes 27p claim for mileage
Jeremy Hunt, the Health Secretary, claimed 27p in mileage for a journey of less than a mile in his constituency.
Mr Hunt, who is locked in a pay dispute with junior doctors, made two claims for 90 metres and one for 8p for parking. He is one of the wealthiest MPs and previously faced criticism for claiming 5p for a paperclip. A Labour source said: “It’s outrageous that Jeremy Hunt can find time to file an expenses claim for 27p but can’t find time to sort out the NHS.”
In 2013 it emerged that Mr Hunt was set to make a £17 million windfall from the sale of Hotcourses, an education listings service he co-founded before he became an MP. However, the prospective buyer pulled out.
