New marriage agony for weathergirl Sian
She splits from her husband – two years after being ‘uninvited’ from stepdaughter’s wedding to Euan Blair
HER love life has been as stormy and unpredictable as the weather reports she presented during our British summers.
After a series of unsuccessful relationships, weathergirl Sian Lloyd finally described her marriage to motor racing entrepreneur Jonathan Ashman as ‘totally right’.
But sadly, she has now separated from the multi-millionaire following seven years of marriage and is once again on her own.
The split comes two years after Ms Lloyd, 57, was left devastated after being ‘uninvited’ from the wedding of her stepdaughter Suzanne Ashman to Euan Blair, the son of the former Prime Minister.
Ms Lloyd, who presented weather reports on ITV for 24 years, is understood to have moved out of the £2.5million house she shared with Mr Ashman in Kensington, West London, and gone back to her fivebedroom home in Wales.
In March, Ms Lloyd took legal action over the London property owned by Mr Ashman so that he cannot sell it without her consent.
Bizarrely, the couple are also bound by a court gagging order meaning they cannot discuss details of their split with anyone else.
A friend said: ‘Sian has split from her husband and has returned to her native Wales. Even though they’ve been married for seven years their marriage has hit the rocks.’
Ms Lloyd met Mr Ashman in 2007 and was thrilled when he proposed in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, after a ten-month whirlwind romance.
He told her they were going to a classic car rally but stunned her with an offer of marriage instead. At the time, Ms Lloyd said: ‘I feel like the luckiest person alive. I know I’ve met the right person – talk about saving the best till last.’
The couple tied the knot in the Welsh village of Portmeirion in Gwynedd, the setting of cult 1960s TV series The Prisoner.
A picture of Ms Lloyd in a cream gown with a brown fur trim emerged after being taken by a fellow guest at their hotel. The intimate cere- mony was attended by only seven guests, including actor Stifyn Parri and opera singer Bryn Terfel.
Ms Lloyd’s marriage came the year after she famously dumped her fiance Lembit Opik, then a Liberal Democrat MP, calling him a ‘barfly’ because of his love of drinking.
Within weeks she made the humiliating discovery that he was professing love for Gabriela Irimia, who was half her age and a member of raunchy Romanian pop duo The Cheeky Girls. Asked how he felt on the day of Ms Lloyd’s wedding, Mr Opik said: ‘I don’t want to be rude but Sian has spent an awful lot of the past 14 months talking about me and my relationship with Gabriela.
‘I hope now she’s married she will really be able to move on... she decided to end her relationship with me and I respect that.’
But Ms Lloyd faced a further blow two years ago over the Blair wed- ding. While Mr Ashman’s ex-wife attended as the bride’s mother, it was made clear that Ms Lloyd would not be welcome at the Blairs’ £4million Buckinghamshire mansion.
At the time, a close friend of Ms Lloyd said: ‘She was basically and unceremoniously uninvited.
‘All she knows is that she got an embossed wedding invitation with her name on it and now she will not be going – and she is none the wiser why...she is devastated.’
