The Killing Of PC Harper: A Widow’s Fight For Justice
ITV, 9pm
They were childhood sweethearts, and when Lissie and PC Andrew Harper (right) were married in 2019, they seemed set for a lifetime of joy. But only four weeks later he suffered fatal injuries, after being dragged along a road by a tow rope tied to a getaway car after going to investigate a robbery.
Now, Lissie Harper opens up to Sir Trevor McDonald about the trauma of becoming a widow, and the combination of rage and grief in her long struggle to find justice for Andrew.
His killers were found guilty of manslaughter, not murder – a result that has led Lissie to campaign for Harper’s Law, which will make a life sentence mandatory for anyone convicted of killing an emergency worker while committing a crime.
