Give us a vote over Net Zero to clear the air

-

How right Nigel Farage is about launching a political movement to campaign for a referendum on Boris Johnson’s controversial

Net Zero policy to decarbonise the economy by 2050.

We have been sucked into this con by MPs and lobbyists without an iota of public consultation.

Wind and solar power will not work on their own. Pushing for electric cars is the same as Gordon Brown’s push on diesel cars.

John Corcoran, Maidstone

I can only agree with Nigel Farage on the futility of Net Zero, just as I agreed with him on Brexit, which we did vote for in 2016. We need a referendum or General Election on Net Zero to clear the air, with full disclosure of the costs.

D. Boyes, Leeds

History is littered with examples of lone voices expressing an opposite view, an alternative to mainstream thinking. They have regularly been derided, disparaged and ignored and eventually their opinion has proved to be correct. Nigel Farage is one such voice. Many regard him as a not very likeable fellow. That does not mean he isn’t right.

Alan Sharpe, Melton Mowbray

Farage and his clique are yesterday’s men who have achieved their aim of taking our country out of the EU, and now he wants to stop one of the great policies Boris Johnson is implementing. Go back and hide under your stone.

Y. Taylor, Somerset

The Net Zero policy is a brilliant idea and I just don’t understand why anybody would vote against it. We need this to do our bit in saving the world from climate change. Every little helps and I do believe this will help in the end.

Steve Green, Manchester

Nigel Farage seems to be the icon of the English boomers. They constantly complain about the ‘snowflake generation’, yet their generation is one of the most irresponsible. A large majority believe that climate change is a concern for the planet and its future, but the greedy boomer generation care about nothing but themselves, and it shows with this backlash against a perfectly respectable policy.

T. Fisher, Glasgow

We all must do our bit to protect the Earth and to do that, we must not be selfish and listen to people like Nigel Farage, who is only in it for himself. Why doesn’t he campaign against something more useful, such as child poverty? Eugene Peterson,

Welcome back to the fight, Sir Nigel. Britain needs you. It’s time the Government listened to the people.
