Cleese’s Palace date

JOHN CLEESE is a vocal opponent of cancel culture so perhaps it’s not a shock to hear he’s signed up to star in The Palace, the latest film from Roman Polanski.

The Polish director, 88, is persona non grata in Hollywood – he fled the US in 1978 after being accused of the rape of a 13-year-old girl. This hasn’t deterred 82-year-old Cleese from accepting a role in his upcoming thriller, which is set on Millennium Eve.

It premieres at the Venice Film Festival in September.
