Power of positivity in fighting cancer
I salute how TV presenter Julia Bradbury, left, opened her heart for the first time about her months of gruelling breast cancer treatments in last week’s You magazine. Julia, you’re truly an inspiration. Don’t lose heart and keep your chin up for the future.

I too, like Julia, went through breast cancer last year.
I am now cancer free and I thought of my cancer as an annoying short illness. Each woman going through breast cancer will have a different story to tell but the way I dealt with it, by having a positive mental attitude, really helped. H. Regan, Cardiff
What is it these days with women and their breasts?
Speaking from experience, I had breast cancer 32 years ago and here I am today, 91 years old and healthy. My partner loved me for me and not my body and this made me feel wonderful, even without having breast replacement surgery.

Julia and I had mastectomies at a similar time last year, but I was told the NHS weren’t doing breast reconstructions during Covid. Mentally, I think it would have been easier to have had both done at the same time.
