Golden Shades Of Autumn
After summer waves goodbye,
Leaving with a gentle sigh,
Long before an icy chill
Brings snowflakes on our window-sill,
Autumn, with her golden crown, Enters in a russet gown,
And gently, with a warming breeze, Strokes her fingers through the trees;
Throwing down without a sound
Jewelled leaves upon the ground,
Such fiery, warming, glorious hues
To ward off thoughts of winter blues.
