Poetry by Tracey Foley
I received one this morning and felt instantly better – It came from the postman, along with a letter,
And though it cost nothing it was priceless anyway,
For it filled my heart with gladness and brightened my day.
I held it close and treasured it till I went for a walk
And felt the urge to pass it on to other worthy folk.
I felt a little shy at first so gave it cautiously,
But everyone I passed it to seemed cheered just like me.
Then suddenly I couldn’t stop for now the seed was sown, Like ripples in a pond created from a single stone,
A tidal wave of happiness has spread for miles and miles And all because today the postman gave to me a smile.
