Be in the pink with this simple edge-to-edge cardigan with raglan shaping.

MEASUREMENTS

To fit sizes: 81/86 cm (32/34 ins), 91.5/96.5 (36/38), 101.5/106.5 (40/42), 112/117 (44/46), 122/127 (48/50), 137/147 (54/58).

Actual sizes: 96.5 cm (38 ins), 104 (41), 114.5 (45), 124.5 (49), 140 (55), 160 (63).

Length: 64 cm (25¼ ins), 67 (26½), 69 (27), 70 (27½), 71 (28), 71 (28).

Sleeve seam: 65 cm (25½ ins), 67 (26¼), 69 (27), 70 (27½), 71 (28), 71 (28).

MATERIALS

3 (3, 4, 4, 5, 5) 170.1-gram balls of Caron Simply Soft in Victorian Rose (9721) M, and 1 (2, 2, 2, 3, 3) ball(s) in Fuchsia (9764) C. One pair each 4.5 mm (No. 7) and 5 mm (No. 6) knitting needles; 4.5 mm (No. 7) circular needle, 80 cm long (or length required) stitchholders. TENSION

18 sts and 24 rows to 10 cm measured over st-st using 5 mm needles.

With 4.5 mm needles and C, cast on 80 (88, 95, 104, 118, 135) sts. Work 9 rows in g-st, noting 1st row is wrong side and inc 5 (5, 6, 7, 7, 8) sts evenly across last row – 85 (93, 101, 111, 125, 143) sts. Change to 5 mm needles and work in stripe patt of 10 rows M and 2 rows C until work measures approx. 44.5 cm, ending after 10 rows M.

Shape raglans – Cast off 2 (2, 3, 3, 4, 4) sts at beg of next 2 rows – 81 (89, 95, 105, 117, 135) sts.

5th & 6th sizes only –

1st row – K2, ssk, knit until 4 sts rem, K2tog, K2.

2nd row – P2, P2tog, purl until 4 sts rem, P2togtbl, P2. Rep last 2 rows (4, 14) times more, then 1st row once more – (95, 73) sts. Purl 1 row.

46) sts and work 9 rows in g-st, noting 1st row is wrong side and inc 3 sts evenly across last row – 41 (41, 45, 45, 49, 49) sts. Change to 5 mm needles and work in stripe patt, inc 1 st at each end of next and every foll 6th (6th, 4th,

4th, 4th, 4th) rows until there are 67 (59, 63, 81, 83, 85) sts then inc 0 (1, 1, 0, 0, 0) st at each end of foll 0 (6th, 6th, 0, 0, 0) rows until there are 67 (73, 77, 81, 83, 85) sts.

Work straight until work measures approx. 44.5 (44.5, 44.5, 44.5, 39.5, 39.5) cm from beg, ending after 10 rows in M.

Shape raglans – With C, cast off 2 (2, 3, 3, 4, 4) sts beg of next 2 rows – 63 (69, 71, 75, 75, 77) sts.

Neckband – With 4.5 mm circular needle, C, and right side facing, pick up and knit 74 sts up right front to start of V shaping, pick up and knit 42 (45, 45, 47, 49, 51) sts up neck edge, K9 (9, 9, 11, 11, 11) sts from right sleeve dec 1 st in centre, K33 (33, 35, 35, 37, 37) sts from back st-holder dec 2 sts evenly, K9 (9, 9, 11, 11, 11) sts from left sleeve dec 1 st in centre, finally pick up and knit 42 (45, 45, 47, 49, 51) sts down V neck edge and 74 sts down right front – 279 (285, 287, 295, 301, 305) sts.

Do not join but working back and forth across needle in rows, knit 6 rows.

Cast off knitwise.
