What can you do?
At home, we can leave extended periods between mowing sessions and keep mowers to a high setting. This way, dandelions and all the other lovely flowers that bloom with them will in turn attract myriad bees, bugs and butterflies for us to enjoy.
And if we have another drought this year, and your overzealous neighbour ends up with a sun-dried crisp brown patch instead of grass, you will have a lush emerald green sward. It’s not messy, it all makes sense, and for the dandelion it’s critical.
I leave you with this thought from Anthony T. Hincks:
“Wildflowers aren’t meant to be cut and tamed. They’re meant to be loved and admired.”
