Brontë Parsonage Museum, Haworth

-

The best place to start your literary tour is the parsonage in Church Street, Haworth. The impressive home of the Brontë family from 1820 to 1861, today it houses a museum run by the Brontë Society.

A collection of manuscripts, letters and early editions of novels are on display, and visitors can also take a look inside the children’s study, Charlotte’s room and the parlour, where Charlotte, Emily and Anne did most of their writing.

The sisters were known to stay up late and walk around the table reading chapters and discussing plots.

Their brother, Branwell, however, would spend much of his time in the local Black Bull Inn. Branwell’s seat still resides in the staircase inside.
