Brontë Waterfall, Haworth
If you’re up for a walk, then set off from Haworth on a three-mile round trip to a little waterfall that Charlotte famously described as a “perfect torrent racing over the rocks, white and beautiful”. Don’t expect any dramatic cascade, especially if you visit during the dry summer months, but it’s a tranquil place to stop, have a picnic and admire the views. Nearby is a stone clapper bridge, and dotted around are natural boulders – one that you’ll notice is shaped like a chair. It’s no surprise to learn this has earned the name Charlotte’s Seat. You can also access a shorter walk
from Penistone Hill Country Park car park.
