A Dash Of Cream
Create stylish earrings using your punch needle.
You Will Need
● DMC Natura Just Cotton yarn (or any lightweight yarn) in Cream (N35) and
Light Blue (N106)
● Cream linen or cotton fabric
● Cream or white sewing thread
● 2 earring bases with 10 mm round metal disc faces
● Thin foam board 3 cm x 3 cm per earring
Tools
● Pencil or water-soluble transfer pen
● Round embroidery hoop, 15 cm (6 ins) diameter
● Fine punch needle
● Scissors
● Sewing needle
● Fabric glue and brush
● Superglue
TO MAKE
Transfer your design twice on to the fabric about 3 cm apart, using your preferred method.
Stretch your fabric in the hoop. Place the inner part of the hoop under your fabric then place the outer hoop on top and tighten.
Thread your punch needle with the cream yarn and work the large section using an even loop stitch. Change to Light Blue, work the crescent shape then fill in the remaining section in cream. Work second earring to match.
TO COMPLETE
Cut out each earring, leaving a 1 cm seam allowance. Using a needle and thread, gather the fabric together at the back to form a perfectly round circle. Glue a small circle of thin foam board (the same diameter as the embroidered circle) to the back with fabric glue. Superglue the piece to the earring base. ■
