Open day is a success for Llanelli
THE Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway held its first postlockdown open day at its Cynheidre base on June 26. This saw the first public use of recently arrived ‘Pacer’ No. 142006.
A good number of visitors attended for pre-booked socially-distanced rides. They were able to view the other new arrivals, ‘Pacers’ Nos. 143606 and 143607, enjoy the picnic areas in the large grounds, and visit the shop and the viewing area in the main shed. The Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Museum now based on the railway (RM May, p90), had a display and sales stand.
The next event is planned for August 28, which is a ‘Pacer’ gala day, but it is advised to check in advance at www.llanellirailway. co.uk for more details and confirmation that the event is able to take place.
