Daytime testing for new Merseyrail Class 777 fleet

-

DAYTIME dynamic testing of seven of Merseyrail’s new Class 777 electric multiple units began on July 1 on the Northern Line, bringing them onto the network for the first time during daylight hours.

Passengers have been warned not to stand close to or attempt to board the units, which will be operating between normal services.

All the 52 four-car trains in the new £500m Stadler-built fleet, which will replace Merseyrail’s Class 507 and Class 508 sets, will undergo dynamic testing prior to entering service.

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, which has purchased the new trains, says that it is “still assessing the full impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on the programme” and will provide more information regarding the timescale for their introduction as soon as it has been agreed.
