PUTTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT (RM JUN-JUL)

-

■ The formation illustrated in the July issue RCTS column was not a monitoring train; coach No. ADB977869 used to be for radio survey work, but is now the support coach for the ‘Winter Development Vehicle’ (No. 7095940141) coupled to it, which has been trying out new approaches to snow clearance.

■ The July issue article on HS2 tunnelling made reference to a ‘plaque of St Barbara’ placed above the portals; however, this is not a plaque but a shrine. A plaque is defined as ‘an ornamental tablet’, whereas the photograph clearly shows a statue of St Barbara.

■ One small error in the Woodhead article (July issue): the route crosses the River Don, not the River Wicker, at Sheffield Victoria Station and closely follows the Don almost to its source near Dunford Bridge. Wicker is the name of the main road from the city centre towards the industrial east end.

■ In Tables 1 and 7 of the First City Flyers P&P (June issue), the operator for the Heathrow entries should be shown as Heathrow Express.
