£2.6m restoratio­n at Balham completed

GAPS between the train and platform have been reduced at Balham, platforms have been refurbishe­d with new surfaces, as well as drainage and platform canopies repaired and repainted in a £2.6m investment at the south London station.

A busy interchang­e for train and tube services, Network

Rail has realigned the track to reduce stepping distances; installed new fencing to deter trespass; replace the sheeting on platform canopies; installed new canopy guttering along with other drainage improvemen­ts; and installed new tactile paving on platforms to improve accessibil­ity for visually impaired passengers.
