GREAT Western Railway Class 800 No. 800030 was named after community fundraisers Lincoln Callaghan, aged six and Henry Cleary, eight at Paddington station on July 5.

The pair are believed to be the youngest people ever in the UK to have a train named in their honour having been recognised by judges of the BBC’s Make a Difference Superstars.

On June 23, Paddington was the venue for the naming of No. 800022 as Tulbahadur Pun VC.

It marked the 77th anniversary of an attack on a railway bridge at Mogaung in Burma in which, despite witnessing several members of his platoon killed, he continued the charge alone before delivering supporting fire to enable survivors to reach the bridge.

Pun, who, aside from his Victoria Cross, was awarded 10 other medals including the Burma Star, died in 2011.
