Timetable and parking boosts for Metrolink
Improvements to the timetable and park and ride facilities are part of plans to open up Greater Manchester’s Metrolink system to more people. From July 5, trams began running at a minimum 12 minute frequency across the network throughout the day, with services at six-minute intervals at peak times on the busiest routes. Trams are also operating later once again on weekends. The move towards a more usual pre-pandemic service was a response to the expected greater number of leisure trips during the summer as Covid-19 restrictions were eased. Work has started on a temporary park and ride facility which will accommodate 250 cars at Radcliffe from mid-autumn. It will remain in use until construction of extra parking decks are completed at Radcliffe and Whitefield tram stops.
