RHEIDOL GARRATT:

The amazing sight of ex-South African Railways Hanomag-built 2-6-2+2-6-2 Garratt NG/G13 (10551/1927) No. 60 drawing into the Vale of Rheidol Railway’s Devil’s Bridge station on October 18, pulling a loaded post-overhaul test train with a few VoR staff members aboard. The privately-owned locomotive was imported from Switzerland in July 2017 and has undergone an extensive overhaul at the VoR’s Aberystwyth works. It is expected to undertake photo charter work during November and enter VoR passenger service in 2022. Further details to follow in next month’s issue.
