PUTTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT

-

THE Northern Line extension to Battersea Power Station is not the first major extension to the Tube network this century (October issue), as the Piccadilly Line was extended to Heathrow Terminal 5 (from Heathrow Terminal 2&3) in March 2008.

That was the first since the Jubilee Line extension from Green Park to Stratford was completed in 1999.

A new station was also opened at Wood Lane (Circle and Hammersmith & City lines) in October 2008. TRM Editor THE caption for No. 37714 hauling tank wagons at Lincoln (October issue) may be in error because in 1993 there was no rostered Class 37 work from the refineries at Immingham.

However, the tanks would have been working from oil storage sidings at Immingham Transit Quay to the loading point at Gainsborough Lea Road oil sidings.

THE article on British Rail freight (October issue) mentions importing cars from a Ford factory in Ghent (Belgium).

There was no such factory in Ghent, however Ford did have a factory in Genk (Belgium). R. Taylor Queensbury
