‘Lizzie’s boiler needs £165K

-

LMS ‘Princess Royal’ Pacific

No. 6201 Princess Elizabeth has been withdrawn from service following the discovery of a leak around the throat plate area of the firebox.

A boiler inspector has requested that all cladding must be dismantled from the boiler and firebox – and that the superheater header should be removed to enable proper examination of the front tube.

To undertake this inspection work and subsequent repairs, owners, the Locomotive 6201 Princess Elizabeth Society Ltd has launched an appeal to raise £165,000. It is hoped this will enable ‘Lizzie’ to return to main line service in time for next year’s Northern Belle trains.
