Birkenhead to get new museum

MERSEY Railway 0-6-4T Cecil Raikes (2605/1885) is to be among the exhibits at a new attraction in Birkenhead which has been given the working title of The Transport Shed. The Beyer Peacock has been housed in the National Museums Liverpool’s (NML) Bootle stores for many years. Wirral Council has been awarded £25m for regeneration projects in Birkenhead under the Government’s Town Deal. Work on the Dock Branch

Park project is due to start in late 2022 and take two years to complete. The venue will complement the nearby Wirral Transport Museum.
