An efficient portable railway for hire

THE 7¼in gauge There & Back Light Railway is a modern portable railway launched in August 2019, which is run as a business. Using bar rail in 10ft lengths, it extends for 460ft with more track panels planned, including curves. It appears at fetes, festivals, country shows, weddings, birthdays, corporate events, and schools etc.

Future events include food and craft fairs in November, at Newbury Showground, Berkshire on 6/7; Sandringha­m, Norfolk on 19-21; Winterfest at Thoresby Park, North Nottingham­shire on 27/28; and December 11/12 at Peterborou­gh Showground.

On the right is Moose, a Colin Edmondson ‘Scamp’ type 4wPE (No. 88), built from a CMD Engineerin­g kit. The two locos are seen at Matlock Farm Park, Derbyshire in August 2020. There are two bogie carriages, also attributab­le to Colin, but are 2ft longer than his usual design.
