Tunnel repair materials airlifted

MATERIALS needed for essential maintenance and repairs on a ventilation shaft on the 127-year-old Cowburn Tunnel in the Hope Valley near Chinley have been brought in by helicopter. Engineers are installing a sophisticated system of drainage pipes to collect the water in a controlled way and divert it into drains running through the tunnel.
