Contractor repairs Edinburgh defects

- COMPILED BY GRAEME PICKERING

CONTRACTOR Bilfinger is carrying out repairs to

133 faults identified on Edinburgh’s tram system after admitting liability for construction defects.

The expected lifespan of concrete used for the on-street stretches of track is 50 years, but just seven years after opening, work has had to be carried out on construction joints where there is heavy bus traffic.

Overnight road closures have taken place on parts of Princes Street and Shandwick Place in order to do the repairs.
