Last public appearance for Beamish museum’s Lewin
SEAHAM Harbour Dock Co. 0-4-0ST No. 18, built by Stephen Lewin of Poole in 1877, made the final public appearance of its current 10-year boiler certificate on October 22. The veteran loco’s ‘ticket’ does not actually expire until February, and it does have a handful of steamings booked before then primarily for stock moves, but these will likely take place when the museum is closed. A few days earlier on October 15, No. 18 took part in a 30742 Charters photography event, seen here in typical company with a short rake of chaldron wagons. Upon withdrawal, No. 18 will join the overhaul queue, but with several locos and trams ahead of it, it could be a few years before No. 18 steams again.
