‘Deltic’ days at the GCR

CLASS 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier continues its visit to the Great Central Railway (RM Oct p80) and has completed six footplate experience days with four more dates booked.

The GCR has offered the Deltic Preservation Society (DPS) January 2 as a day for ‘Deltics’. It is hoped No. D9009 Alycidon will be ready by then (RM Oct p80) and will also be at the GCR. If so, the 40th anniversary of the ‘Deltic Scotsman Farewell’ railtour can be commemorated.

There will be some timetabled ‘Deltic’ running dates on the GCR in the first quarter of the year, before No. 55019 moves on to the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway for a three-month visit.
