LSL plans ‘Peak’ tour to Devon

THE return of a ‘Peak’ to the main line is on the cards now LSL has scheduled a railtour under its ‘InterCity’ brand for October 19, 2022. Re-creating the days of the BR cross country era of the 1980s, ‘Peak’ No. 45118 The Royal Artilleryman is due to haul the ‘Torbay Delight’ from York, calling at Leeds, Sheffield, Chesterfield and Derby before continuing to Exeter and a final destination of Paignton. If the ‘Peak’ is not available, the alternative locos will be a pair of Class 37s. It is believed the train will be the first ‘Peak’ hauled railtour since D172 Ixion some 20 years ago.
