Romanian diesel temporarily replaces steam in Austria
IN much of 2021 the 760mm gauge Stainzerbahn museum railway, south west of Graz in Austria was, unusually, regularly diesel-hauled using a Romanian-built Faur L45H BoBo, as none of the line’s steam locos were available.
The diesel is normally dedicated to maintenance trains.
The steam loco was due back from overhaul in late October. No. L45H-070 is seen at
Stainz (above) with the 1500 to Preding-Wieselsdorf on October 16, 2021. The loco was originally used by the Hunedoara-Ghelari industrial line in Romania but has been at the Stainzerbahn since 2010.
