Traction Times A Second Selection
THE Transport Treasury is one of the best railway archives and after several decades of working on the railways, Andrew Royle has turned his railway knowledge to editing books from the Transport Treasury collection.
The author has researched in minute detail every picture, writing an extended caption which brings out the images’ backstory on every page. This is what makes it different from many other publications looking at the successors to steam traction. Indeed the frontispiece describes the book as ‘An early BR Traction Miscellany compilation’, which sums up the book perfectly.
If you are interested in these changeover years, now-closed lines and long forgotten traction, then this book is a must for your collection. The reviewer spent hours considering the images and accompanying information, and like me, the reader will return to this book time and time again. PM
