Name decided for new Liverpool station

Mayor Steve Rotheram has announced that Liverpool Baltic will be the new name for the station to be built on the site of the former St James station. The decision follows a public vote in which the name was a clear winner with 77.7% of the vote. Other contenders were Liverpool Parliament Street and Liverpool Riverside.

The new station is expected to open in 2025, subject to funding being secured. It is being renamed to avoid confusion with the nearby James Street station.
