Rapid repairs
IN the April issue there is a photo and report under the RCTS item of the collapse of Clapham Junction Signalbox in 1965. I thought you might be interested in this photo, showing the amazing sight of a
4-EPB unit passing under the partially collapsed structure, just one day after the incident (May 11, 1965). I cannot imagine this happening these days, when any incident can lead to a total cessation of all services. Running trains was seen as the priority then, whereas today the entire line into Waterloo would have been closed for weeks.
