Gala appearance for Welsh Guardsman

ROBERT Stephens & Hawthorns ‘Austerity’ 0-6-0ST Welsh Guardsman (7170/1944) took part in the Severn Valley Railway’s (SVR) Spring Steam Gala on April 21-24. The ex-NCB South Wales Division loco, which is owned by the Felinfoel Brewery in Llanelli and nominally based on the SVR, proved to be a popular performer, working services in tandem with GWR 0-6-0s No. 7714 and 813.
