BACK ON THE OLD ROAD:
LMS 4-6-0 No. 46100 Royal Scot hauled Saphos Trains’
‘The White Rose’ excursion from Bridgnorth to York on April 6. It is pictured passing Bedgrave, near Sheffield on the Chesterfield to Rotherham Masborough line, better known as the ‘Old Road’. In the words of the photographer: “I think that this is the first time No. 46100 has ever been on the ‘Old Road’. It was a regular in Sheffield Midland for a year or so around 1960/61 when it was shedded at Nottingham. The ‘Scots’ did not last long before ‘Peak’ diesels took over.”
