CrossCountry ‘Deltic’ recalled

HAVING just read David Russell’s very interesting article about No. D9000 Royal Scots Grey (September issue), I recall being one of those enthusiasts staring at the loco that had just arrived at Birmingham New Street in summer 1997.

I do not remember the reason I was on the station, probably changing trains, or why that specific day – but as my photo shows, both loco numbers match the article, and I have it listed as 1997, so there is a good chance it was indeed taken on July 23.
