Tracklaying to start at GVT’s Chirk station

GLYN Valley Tramway Trust anticipates starting to lay track at Chirk station imminently. Sleepers were delivered in late September, a quantity of track clips have been purchased from the Corris Railway and the rails bought from Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway in March have been examined to select the most suitable for building an initial demonstration line.

Valley Tramway station site have moved from excavation to construction with work having started on rebuilding the booking office foundations. Oversize Victorian bricks are being cleaned up for use in reconstructing the booking office.
