Montalban back in full service for West Lancs Working Engines gala

-

WEST Lancashire Light Railway’s (WLLR) October 2 working engines gala featured a frequent passenger timetable operated by resident locos Hunslet 0-40ST Irish Mail, O&K 0-4-0WTT Montalban and Hudswell Clarke 68hp 0-4-0DM 750/1949 No 38. Between passenger services, a selection of WLLR’s smaller diesel locos hauled an assortment of rolling stock. Having been withdrawn in 2015 for an overhaul, which included welding and patching to deal with corrosion in several areas of the boiler barrel, Montalban returned to operation during WLLR’s summer steam gala in August. However, at that stage it was not fully finished and appeared double and triple-heading with other locos. For WLLR’s working engines gala it was back in full service.

?? RICHARD MARSTON/WLLR ?? O&K 0-4-0WTT Montalban, now fully in operation, pauses at WLLR’s Hesketh Bank station on October 2.
