Old Kiln’s 40th birthday

-

THE Old Kiln Light Railway’s (OKLR) September 10-11 gala celebrated the line’s 40th anniversary. O&K 0-6-0WT Sao Domingos visited from the Great Bush Railway at Tinkers Park, Sussex to join OKLR’s resident steam loco O&K 0-6-0T Elouise, which was back in action after overhaul and Jim Haylock’s 0-40T Emmet, which was completed in 2003 having utilised the chassis of a 1937 O&K 0-4-0 diesel locomotive – all three steam locos therefore had an O&K connection!

This event was the first time that OKLR had fielded three locos in steam. OKLR’s Hibberd 4wDM 2528/1941 and Baguely steam outline 0-4-0DH 1769/1928 Altonia were also in action.
