CHIEF VISITS THE NORTH:
Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway’s Davey Paxman 4-6-2 No. 2 Northern Chief visited Whistlestop Valley (nee Kirklees Light Railway) for that line’s September 10-11 steam and diesel gala weekend. It is pictured on September 11 approaching Cuckoo’s Nest. Also visiting the gala was privately owned Bassett-Lowke 4-4-2 ‘Little Giant’ Count Louis. The traditional Shelley or Bust operation to close the weekend featured six locos pulling a train the length of the line from Clayton West to Shelley with the return trip also including Tram No. 7.
