Track investment at Bournemouth to benefit staff
A POINTS converter at
South Western Railway’s Bournemouth depot has been overhauled and given an upgraded safety system.
Originally installed in
2013, the converter (on the approach to the depot’s paint shed) allows manual points to be operated remotely, removing the risk of potential handling injuries to staff.
The control panel within the depot has been updated to give a positive indication that the points have been switched correctly and integrated with warning beacons to alert staff to the road being open for train movements.
