WESTERN LINER VISITS MAYO:
The Railway Preservation Society of Ireland ran its autumn railtour, ‘The Western Liner’ to
Ballina and Westport lines in Co Mayo with the society’s Cravens set on October 8. After arrival at Ballina, the charter was shunted into the freight yard for servicing, having arrived from Dublin Connolly behind 071 Class loco No. 085. A locomotive swap took place with No. 076 replacing No. 085. Both locomotives are seen here after the swap had taken place. No. 076 worked the tour from Ballina-Claremorris-Westport-Connolly, while No. 085 worked the timber train to Waterford on October 10.
