The Railway Magazine

Scottish Steam 1948-1967

- By Peter Tuffrey

IT is amazing how many previously unpublished photographs continue to be found and put into print. This latest offering is one such example – a mixture of black & white and colour prints from a variety of photographers takes the reader alphabetically around much of Scotland. In addition to the usual photographic locations, less wellknown sites make a pleasant change to

the ‘standard’ views. Most of the captions are fairly limited in the information given, but there are some that are much more detailed, which adds to the value of this publication. The print quality is particularly good and this alone makes it a desirable publication, as the details shown within the prints are quite exceptional.

Highly recommended for those who delight in the scenery and unique locomotives found north of the border in the days of British Railways through to the demise of steam in 1967, making this is a very useful addition to the Scottish railway library. AB
