WEST COAST CHANGES:

The first Avanti five-car Class 805 bi-mode is now ready for trials to begin, as the first of the Class 221s they will replace has been sent for store. No. 805001 was hauled from the Hitachi factory at Newton Aycliffe to the Old Dalby test track by GBRf ’s No. 66755 on November 12 – seen above passing through Oakham wrong line due to the bridge bash at Stamford (see story on page 82). Meanwhile ‘Voyager’ No. 221142 was hauled from Central Rivers depot (Barton-under-Needwood) to Worksop by ROG’s No. 37510 on November 25, seen right passing Barrow-uponTrent.
