GWR supports Veterans Charity with ‘Poppies to Paddington’ operation

-

FOR the third consecutive year, GWR ran a special ‘Poppies to Paddington’ operation on Remembrance Day, Friday, November 11, in conjunction with the Veterans Charity, to carry hundreds of poppy wreaths from across its network to be laid at London Paddington’s war memorial on Platform 1. The idea was conceived in 2020 to ensure communities within the GWR network could honour our fallen heroes despite the restrictions in place around Covid-19. This year there was also a special tribute to those involved in the Falklands conflict 40 years ago, and Sara Jones CBE, widow of Falklands hero Lt Col Herbert ‘H’ Jones VC, laid a wreath at Paddington’s war memorial.
