■ I ENJOYED reading ‘In the footsteps of Colonel Cobb’ (November issue). However, having moved to Rye five years ago, I can assure you it is in (East) Sussex and not Kent John Russell, Totnes Thanks also to Terry Steele and Anthony Pritchett for pointing this out – Ed.

■ THE November P&P article makes a comment about a loco coming from Keswick, saying it was ‘DX’ class, but the last two were withdrawn in 1930. Locomotives Illustrated issue 141 implies that the Keswick branch long used LNW ‘Coal engines’ because of their low axle weight. Martin Burger, Bracknell
