Grant boost for GCR loco works

THE major refurbishment of the Great Central Railway’s (GCR) Loughborough loco works is among beneficiaries of the Loughborough Town Deal (LTD) after being awarded a £280,000 grant. It is one of 11 projects LTD is supporting after securing £16.9 million of Government funding. In addition to being a place where apprentices can learn new skills, visitors will benefit from enhanced viewing facilities and interactive displays. Costing about £980,000, the project has also received from the David Clarke Railway Trust. Completion is expected by September 2023.
