Lydd Town station building gutted by fire

THE former station building at Lydd Town on the Dungeness branch was gutted by fire during the early hours of November 8, the cause of which is under investigation. Closed in March 1967, the station was the focus of a local heritage group which had been trying to get it restored and listed status. The line is used for occasional nuclear flask traffic.
