‘Pay as you go’ popularity

TRANSPORT for London says the number of people using the option of contactless payment with their mobile phone for Tube travel is now higher than it was before the Covid-19 pandemic. TfL figures show that in the four weeks from the end of July to late August, it was used for around 485,000 journeys a day. In January 2020, 400,000 daily trips were paid for in this way.
