-

BURTON-upon-Trent-based Clayton Equipment is in the final stages of completing its first new battery-powered CB45 locomotive. The company says it expects “worldwide interest” in the 45-tonne centre cab 0-4-0 shunter, which aims to offer many of the benefits of a much bigger locomotive. In its specifications, Clayton quotes a battery range of 16km (10 miles) with a load of 1200 tonnes and up to 450km (280 miles) operating light engine.
